Overview of ServicesAs a membership organization, the NCTN is committed to providing services and products that focus on the needs of our members and the field. The NCTN works with state, regional and municipal agencies, and educational institutions or programs to provide customized professional development and coaching based on principles of effective and sustained professional development. Drawing on best practices supported by research, pilot-testing, and experience we offer:
Customized one-time workshops, keynote presentations, online courses and list serve moderation and other communities of practice are also available through the NCTN. All of NCTN’s online courses are interactive, with readings and assignments aimed at application in practice. Each NCTN product is accompanied by face-to-face workshops and/or facilitated distance learning activities, for example, online courses or webinars. Follow-up coaching and learning communities are typically provided in collaboration with local professional development facilitators. They are framed around common policy objectives related to transitioning adult learners to postsecondary education and careers. Our technical assistance for program planning covers a range of transition program models. Download for more details. NCTN is committed to disseminating its own research and knowledge generated from other sources via our College for Adults and the NCTN website, quarterly e-newsletter, and participation in state and national conferences. In addition to presenting our annual National Conference on Effective Transitions in Adult Education, we offer a series of workshops on adult transition to postsecondary education and training at the NCTN Transition Strand at the Commission on Adult Basic Education and Literacy (COABE) national conferences.
